Amybeth McNulty was born in the Republic of Ireland but was brought up in Canada. She is best known for playing Anne Shirley, a character inspired by Lucy Maud Montgomery's 1908 book Anne of Green Gables. Amybeth McNulty's Anne is a 13-year old girl that had an unforgiving childhood living in orphanages and other houses of strangers. In the latter part of 1890, Anne is mistakenly sent to live with aging siblings Marilla as well as Matthew Cuthbert who live on Prince Edward Island.
